I'm no English teacher but does this guy or the publisher for that matter, know what "Proofreading" is? The miss-spellings, wrong or no punctuation. Obviously, didn't use a word processor. There were places where he made some sort of attempt to proofread, or he changed his line of though and didn't remove the old text. It was painfully hard to read. If I didn't have some insight into what he was saying I would not have attempted to finish reading it.Product details

This book is fabulous! "I was there!"...every Vet I give a copy of this book to read for themselves just shake their heads and say "yep..only by God's Grace did we survive. Great read "Doc".. and I truly will always love "My Brothers"!!!. My wife.. being a nurse herself.. could not stop saying how true to form your description of your feelings were as a "new nurse"..thrown out there.. on your own..it is a HUGE responsiblity..and you handled it well! Thanks again and "Sempi Fi"!!!!
Good read except for the misspelling of words throughout the book.
I loved this book! It is written honestly and from the heart and with a great deal of compassion for the people around him. It is a personal story though Doc writes himself into the story as character from the point of an unknown narrator.
I am an English teacher, and sure, I get cranky when my students don't proofread. And sure, as a non-smoker, I just could not relate to Doc describing the experience of every cigarette he smoked while serving in Viet Nam but Doc has the guts to let it all hang out and say what he feels like how he feels like it.
Great read but a lot of typo errors. I was an Operating Room corpsman in Danang Vietnam, 69-70, so I could relate strongly to this book.
A must read for any Viet Nam veteran no matter what branch of service. Mr Lewis tells the story of an entire generation of us that went from teenager to adult in 13 short months as only one who was there could. Through his first hand account I was brought back into a world I left behind over 40 years ago. I couldn't put it down until the last page. A first hand account of some of America's real unsung heros. Thank you "Doc" Lewis, and "Welcome Home my Brother".
Thanks Doc Lewis. I just finished your book and am just amazed at the memories which you brought back to life. As you know, corpsmen are vital to the Marine Grunt and in particular for the small team of Reconnaissance Marines. We owe you all a lot. AARUGHA!

Having served with 3rd Recon in 1966 and 1967 I could identify with the stories. Corpsman were always very important to us and our survival.
