You don't have to use it exactly as they suggest, or do the activities they suggest, if you don't have time or don't want to. It's very beneficial even used just as a regular family devotional guide. Highly recommend this book!! Weekly devotions are well-organized and easy to work with whether you have a lot of time to develop the themes or are usually on the run! My boys, 3 & 7, are memorizing like champs and look forward to our weekly "sword." My favorite part is that you memorize scripture to combat the regular temptations we all face daily--exs "When I am tempted to lose my self-control I remember I Peter 58," "when I am tempted to feel sorry for myself I remember Psalm 1212," etc. This opens wonderful discussions during Teachable Moments... It's my favorite family resource, for sure.
We used all of the devotions in this book. It was a great tool to get us start on regular devotionals. After we finished the book, we had developed good habits and are continuing our family devotionals just using the bible now.
Good condition...exactly what I wanted to help my Bible class children memorize scriptures.
Highly recommended! Was a great tool to teach our son about the bible in a fun new way. He loves the crafts that go along with each study as well.
This has been a great family devotion to use with my boys 5 & 7. It guides us in applying scripture to our lives and fighting the temptations we all battle. My boys do struggle with "what do you think about..." type questions, largely due to their young age. It opens up opportunities to talk about all kinds of temptations to sin like being stubborn, or rude, or prideful to mention just a few.
I love this book. It is very helpful to teach children how to use the scriptures to resist temptation. It has 52 weeks of scriptures and each week has a daily devotion to help enforce the scriptures. I use this book in Children's church.
This is an awesome book and it is hard to find. I have done this with all three of my children and it was a wonderful experience. It is a good bit of the reason why they remember as much scripture as they do and they had so much fun doing it. I bought this and the companion Bible, God's Story, written by the same author for each of my kids to have a set to do with their kids when they start their families. The memories and experience has been that wonderful.
